Dear Delegates,
With great honor and pleasure I am glad to welcome you to our 11th Model United Nations Conference, Roots Youth Model united nations 2020. Through this conference we hope to provide a unique opportunity to engage high school and university students and be more productive, while developing strong friendships. With over 2000 attendees this time RYMUN will be held at our state-of-the-art Root International Schools & Colleges Campus, the wellington campus Islamabad on 17th January till 19th January 2020.
Model United Nations Conference is a format for a conference which simulates the conference proceedings of the United Nations. Students participate in the conference as delegates from countries or as members of UN committees. MUN is a global co-curricular activity. The purpose of this exercise is to engage students in the current affairs of the world they live in as well as to increase their skills in debate, academic essay writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and public speaking. The students will be reinvigorated for each round of discussion by accompanying social events on all three days. The young delegates, in seeking solutions to these problems, can learn to break away from narrow, national self-interest and develop true International Corporation and a true spirit of globalization. Above all, MUN seeks to make students conscientious citizens of the world.
RIS conducts successful MUN conferences each year. Delegates from the Roots International schools & colleges as well as other schools participate with great zeal. Each year, the MUN revolves around a central strategic theme which reflects current affairs. Delegates share their views on the central theme with respect to their countries social and cultural heritage, their economic interests, and their geopolitical interests. The event also includes social events like diplomatic meets with members of the UN and regional bodies, a global expo in which delegates showcase the culture of their countries, and concerts of popular bands.
Thus with our academic routine and extracurricular activities we make sure to infuse our students with each of these to develop them into exceptional beings in character and their future profession. I am delight and humbled that we are among the founders of Model united in Pakistan, it is all due to our quality and caliber that wherein students celebrate unity in diversity and resort to holistic, pacifist means of conflict resolution. MUN caters to national as well as international students.
We plan to retreat you with a wealth of knowledge skills, deliver high-value-added learning experiences to students. Prepare students for active citizenship role, Develop global relevance and local applications in students, develop soft skills of students. Have a great time, relax, meet new people, and have fun.
